Walter Sullivan, Senior Product Planner for the Microsoft Windows Embedded Automotive team gave us a little demo of the new MyFord Touch in-car computer out in Bellevue, WA this week. The new car computer system is available in the Ford Edge and it features two in-dash screens right behind the steering wheel as well as a large touch screen in the center column. You can connect your Windows Phone 7 (or any phone) via Bluetooth in order to access some online services using voice controls. The system is designed for high usability while driving so most controls can be accessed via tactile buttons on the steering wheel, dual screens right within your field of view, and most-importantly voice commands. It is not able to transcribe your voice into text messages, but you can easily reply to incoming text messages (that can be read to you) by choosing a pre-made response via voice control.
