"The Middle East. Christian Witness for Peace." That was the title of a conference held this morning in the centre of Rome, to raise awareness of the issues being discussed at the Synod of Bishops. Among the speakers were Rome's Mayor, Gianni Alemanno, Archbishop Nikola Eterovic, secretary general of the Synod of Bishops, and Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Holy See Press Office. The Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini stressed that Italy will present a motion at the UN in support of religious minorities.
