Shown here is NASA's Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle undergoing aerodynamic testing at hypersonic speed at AEDC's Hypervelocity wind tunnel 9 in Maryland. AEDC has tested all of NASA's manned space systems. Tunnel 9 is a blowdown wind tunnel that can reach speeds up to Mach 16.
