Benedict XVI Remembers Cardinal Navarrete

The Jesuit Cardinal Urbano Navarrete, who died recently, had a profoundly Christian vision and was guided by his commitment to God, the Church, the education of man and through works. This was the eulogy of the Pope at the cardinal's funeral today in the Vatican Basilica. In Christ, the Pope said, the cardinal found the way to salvation, and also the reference point for human history and deep meaning. In this horizon of hope, we believe that Cardinal Urbano Navarrete has gone to sleep in the Lord at the end of a busy life, during which he relentlessly professed faith in this mystery oflove, proclaiming to everyone the Word of salvation.
