Charlene Li, the social media analyst and co-author of Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies, contrasts our need for privacy with the situations in which it is to our advantage to assign permissions. Li envisions a future in which a single device will do everything for us. For this to happen we need to resolve the convoluted mix that currently reigns among all the different platforms so that email, text, Twitter, the Internet, and phone can all be connected together and under our control.
